Death by Overwork at Toyota Plant

In the two months leading up to his death, the man averaged more than 80 hours of overtime per month, his wife’s lawyers said.

Workers in Japan often put in very long hours and “sudden death from overwork” is referred to as karoshi.

There is work, and then there is work. Some of it causes death. The Japanese even have a word for “death by overwork”! Wow.

Color me cynical, but I never want to work so much that I die from it. [Condolences to the man’s family]
